October 31st

a cold morning with a heavy frost
silent icey patches on the roads
a moonless sky
unlit snow covered landscape
as many houses still without power
the whir of generators now and then
navigating closed roads
littered with debris and downed lines
a quiet ride into work
feels more like january
but happy halloween anyway

Happy Halloween!

We didn't carve a pumpkin yet but we already made a snow man

This weather is ridiculous
Trees with leaves are breaking everywhere
The power is still thankfully on
We built a snow man
But haven't carved a pumpkin yet

This is the best time of year to ride

Down in the valley

forty some miles of hills and fields
hard climbs
winding techy descents
rolling countryside
topped off with some singletrack
a grand loop of mixed terrain
couple more pics here

another day on the road

another day on the road

this week marks three years since I sold my car and we became a single vehicle household. i was commuting for years before that but the daily routine didn't truely kick in till that option was no longer parked out in the street. i've racked up over 18,000 commuting miles since then and have no intentions of stopping. some days are easier than others but the benefits far outweigh the difficulties.

on a monday morning

it's forty eight degrees
it's pissing rain
not enough though to warrant rain gear
but enough to make me pack it

the mornings are always dark now
not even a hint of a sunrise
today there's the dull glow outside
of city lights on low hung clouds

it feels cold pedelaing down the block
seasonal acclimation still needs to occur
come spring though
forty eight degrees will feel balmy
