I can't believe my BB is still going on my Cross Check. 5 years and 25,000 miles and still going.
Cross Check news for me. I ordered a new Cross Check frame. I'm having some modifications done to the frame so I can run it with a Gates Carbon Drive and IGH this winter. I'm thinking it will be the ultimate winter bike for our long winters in Northeastern Minnesota.
the current bb was new with the frame last summer after getting hit. the one before that was 3+ years of fixed duty. both still spin smooth.
the non-drive crankarm was the culprit and the drive would chip in every now and then. grease and tightening couldn't help anymore. square taper works but has its limits. but then again look at how many bb systems have come, gone, and been bitched about the last couple years.
read about your xcheck news. anxious to see and hear the outcome.
Spoke too soon. My BB started making strange noises last evening. This morning it was getting louder. It only had to last one more month when the new Cross Check should be ready!
