Given your style, I'm surprised you haven't gone for a more "servicable" BB. Cup & Cone can always be re-built and is infinately ajustable for those of us who worry about chain line.
never even considered it with how few problems i've had over the years. any creaking was always solved with more grease. bearings have lasted over 10k and are still going. cheap and dependable up to this point
starting to think its the crank/spindle interface though...
