overgeared and grunting along

an eighteen tooth cog

40x16 was too tall a gear for studded tires on shitty roads. added 2 more teeth out back for easier spinning. another nor'easter is headed our way too and the snow just keeps piling up. my drivetrain motors along but the chain is a rusty yet somehow still greasy mess. however the stainless ring and cog are unfazed by the wintery abuse; testament to the metals desirable properties.

I just 3 days ago swapped my 42/14 for a 42/16. Ahhhhh, it's so much easier.

that was a monster of a gear! i twiddled away this morning. running late on a low gear fix is a lesson in patience. roads are mainly clear at the moment but the snow is returning. one of those 3 speed fixed hubs would be handy right about now.
