the boots have been repaired
the steel cables re-laced
the boa wheel thingy reconstructed
a bit tighter fit though when pulling on with thick socks
due to shorter laces
measure twice cut once
boa came thru with the repair bits
just silence from lake
when this pair of boots wear out
they won't be replaced
other lo-fi simpler options will be sought out

Lo-fi: Good shoe fit and proper covers.
I like neoprene®
I really like everything about my Lake MTB Winter Boots. They've been put through a total of 4 winters. And winters here last from November until mid-April. But I have to say I've never liked the whole Boa lace thing. When it's working, it works fine. But when it's not working, there is no quick fix. They're really a pain in the a## to re-lace once you get the parts. Having said that, I think I would still stick with them rather then switch to shoes and covers.
I'm hoping another shoe company steps up and gives lake some serious competition. Options are few with clipless pedals, and I'm not anxious for flat pedals, but I won't spend the money again for the same style boot.
louis garneau makes a pair of winter boots.
I feel the same way about my Lake winter shoes. Other options are out there.
