r.i.p. lake mxz302
the steel boa cable gave way
a distinct pop was felt and heard
just like that the boot was loose
i tried in vain to tighten
thankfully the velcro closure is fairly snug
the commute continued on
awaiting a response from customer service
also noticed on the other boot
the intact cable is rusted
seems the plastic coating cracks
water filters in
chemical reactions occur
looking to do some preventative maintainance as well
this is not my first issue with these boots
the heel stitching gave way back in 08
restitched and glued
they've held since
seems many have had issues with these boots
warm but not so sure about long term value...

ugh...those fancy pants wire tightening device....
you cant go wrong with laces, and the boots would be cheaper...to boot!
It shouldn't be a problem- the BOA system is guaranteed for the life of the shoe- http://www.boatechnologies.com/guarantee
thanks dank. just ordered a free replacement lace kit with enough cable for both boots. might try an old toe strap to snug them up till the parts arrive; too cold to go without the boots.
Flat pedal and sorrels?
Chris,
Check to make sure there's nothing sharp in one of the lace guides. I had that happen when I broke several laces. I was finally able to get them warrantied for a new pair.
Give that a shot.

dave - I've given that thought before but with the fix I like foot retention. don't know how you do it fixed with flats all the time.
matt - I'll check it out when I relace them.
I run some wide SIDI's and thick wool socks. Shoe covers if I think it will be really cold. The key (for me... results may vary) is to have slightly more layers over your core than is normally comfortable. If that stays toasty, the limbs should too. It can be a bit of a hassle if you are chugging up and down lots of hills, but it usually works fine for me.
I'm good with woolens and shoe covers down to the high thirties. cooler than that I reach for the boots. sizing up the shoes and thicker socks would almost be better than the shit luck I've had with these boots. cheaper too. ever see those socks with the waterprrof laminate attached to them? forget the brand at the moment...
not giving up on the boots yet, they cost too much just to set aside.
